Madrid Airport

The airport has the following services: nursery. Luggage lockers, chapels, post office, travel agencies, pharmacy, cafeterias, tourist offices, cash machines, police station, tour operator counters, photocopy service, photo shop, EURO room, Metro station, IFEMA office, and train ticket sales office.

The airport of Madrid – Barajas is about 13 Kms from downtown. AENA is the company that manages the airport. Barajas receives around 3.200 flights a week from 131 national and international destinations. This airport is one of the main transit points between Europe and Latin America.

To get to the airport you can take the National II highway (exits 10 and 11) or the ring road M-40 (exits 3 and 9). There is a bus service from Plaza de Colon to the airport, every 15 min.

The Barajas Airport is being extended with new terminals and runaways. In the year 2004 it will have a new terminal, 37 check-in walkways, two new airport at Campo Real is foreseen which is located 30 km away from the city. It’s a long-term project.
